Elkhart Co. teens found guilty of murder face sentencing Thursday

Elkhart, Ind. Three Elkhart county teens, found guilty of felony murder after their friend died during a burglary, should learn their punishments Thursday.

Last month, Blake Layman, 17, Levi Sparks, 18, and Anthony Sharp, Jr., 19, were convicted in the death of Danzele Johnson, 21, who was shot and killed during a home invasion last October.

While none of them pulled the trigger, under Indiana law, their involvement in the crime makes them responsible.

At Thursday morning's hearing, each of the teens will get a prison sentence ranging from 45 to 65 years.

Their accomplice, Jose Quiroz, 17, pleaded guilty to the charges and was already sentenced to 45 years in prison and 10 years probation.
