The fate of a longstanding golf course in Middlebury is up for debate.

The Sims Oak Hills course is actually owned by the city of Elkhart.

They're looking to close or sell it, according to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth.

The city originally bought the course back in 1965 for a whopping $1.00 and it has been funded by user fees ever since.

But Mayor Dick Moore said he doesn't think it ever brought in enough money to pay for itself and reserve funds run out at the end of this year.

The city already has a potential buyer in Michigan.
