Mottville, Mich. The thoughts and prayers of many in the Elkhart community are with a teen who was seriously hurt in a racing accident.

The 16-year-old suffered bleeding in his brain in the accident Sunday night, and was flown to a Kalamazoo Hospital.

He lost control of his kart while racing on the Mottville Speedway in St Joseph County Michigan.

According to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth, Connor Watson is originally from Middlebury, but now lives in White Pigeon, Michigan.

His family says he's started breathing on his own, but doctors don't know yet if he'll have permanent brain damage.

Connor's father and brother were also racing at the time, but were in front, and didn't see how the crash happened. The teen was wearing a helmet at the time.
