Elkhart Council to vote August 8 about sewer changes

A dispute over Elkhart water-sewer payments could be decided as early as next week.

The city will hold a special meeting about the issue on August 8, when they could vote on commercial sewer charges for customers outside of the city.

The council voted two compact sewer proposals out of committee Monday night, according to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth.

Councilman David Henke and other republicans prefer a 15 percent user fee that goes to the utility department. But Mayor Dick Moore's 35 percent plan sends revenues from sewer fees to the Greater Elkhart Fund.
