Edwardsburg third grader recognized by White House for healthy recipe

A Michiana eight-year-old was able to meet the President and the First Lady after developing a tasty recipe.

Avery McNew attended the Kids' State Dinner last month at the White House as part of Michelle Obama's Healthy Kids Challenge.

McNew was selected for her recipe, Apple Oat Balls. She represented the state of Michigan.

Tricia Sloma talked to McNew about her trip to the White House on 16 Morning News.

The 54 recipes were put together into a Healthy Kids Challenge cookbook.

The cookbook can be downloaded by clicking on the Big Red Bar.
