A man who died after jumping off the south pier in St. Joseph into Lake Michigan has been identified.
It happened at noon on Tuesday at Silver Beach when police received a call about a possible drowning.
Rescue crews said a man belly-flopped into the lake and immediately yelled for help, but went underwater before others could save him.
The man has been identified as Alexander Hines, 26, from Benton Harbor.
The Stormteam Sixteen skycam showed the Berrien County dive team pull his body out of the water about an hour-and-a-half after he jumped.
Hines was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Within an hour of the drowning others, including kids, were once again jumping off the pier.
