Two people were sent to the hospital after a bad accident Saturday afternoon in Elkhart County..
The crash happened around 2:45 p.m. in the 29,700-block of Old US 20 on the county's west side.
Police said Kayci Mast, 20, was heading east when her car suddenly lost traction on the wet road, causing her to swerve into the oncoming lane of traffic and slam into another vehicle head on.
The driver of that car, Brian Bunten, 44, had to be cut out of his vehicle.
Mast suffered injuries to her neck and left arm, while Bunten had scrapes on his stomach, cuts on his lower leg, and a possible broken finger.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Mast was cited for going too fast for the weather conditions and failing to provide car insurance.
Eyewitness reporter Michelle Yoder sent in a photo of the aftermath.
The accident left the road closed for about an hour while crews cleaned up.
