Driver crosses median on St. Joe Valley Parkway and rolls over

A rollover accident injured two young women in Berrien County Wednesday morning.

It happened just after 7:30 near mile marker 17 in the southbound lanes of U.S.31. That's south of Tabor Road.

Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police say the driver, Zalika Thompson, 21, of Berrien Springs was northbound on the St. Joe Valley Parkway when she may have become distracted and drove off the road.

Her car crossed the median and rolled over stopping near the southbound lanes.

Thompson and a passenger, Nickisha Thompson, 22, were both taken to Lakeland Medical Center for treatment. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

St. Joe's Deputy Fire Chief was heading to work from Berrien Springs and was the first on the scene.
