South Bend, Ind. Drewrys was a South Bend staple during the first half of the 20th century.
On Saturday, the newly-revived brewing company gave folks a sneak peek of what to expect when it makes its highly-anticipated return to area bars and restaurants.
Hundreds of beer connoisseurs made their way to the Century Center pavilion this afternoon to get their first taste of Drewrys.
There were a number of varieties on tap for folks to sample and vote on: a premium lager, original recipe and brewer's special.
All three pay tribute to the old Drewrys flavor that so many people used to enjoy.
The event was not only a celebration of the popular brand's comeback, but it was also a way to get community feedback on the new brews.
"The initial one that's available in restaurants and bars starting next week is just the classical Drewrys,” said Dan Blacharski, a spokesman for the company. “What we have today is just some sample test runs. What we are trying to do is just get some public feedback. We really want to know what they think, what they like, what they don't like and what they prefer. That's the purpose of bringing out these test batches today."
Drewrys will be available on tap at dozens of bars across Michiana within the next few months.
