Drewrys Beer gets ready for comeback

A historic South Bend beer is returning and the investor is offering the first taste before it hits the market.

In a matter of months Drewrys Draft Beer will be available at 100 bars on tap around Michiana.

It's hard to believe for the developer and public relations firm that wanted to revive the beer company back in January with just an idea. Now however they found a plant in Milwaukee to brew it and eventually bottle it.

Before that happens though people can taste and evaluate the beer at the Century Center on August 24th. It's called the 1st Taste of Drewrys.

Many around Michiana are familiar with the name after its place in South Bend until it closed back in the 70's.

"One thing we've discovered since is that so many people are excited since our launch that many people are coming forward, sharing their stories," says Drewrys spokesperson Dan Blackharski from Ugly Dog Media. "Everybody has their story where they remember something about working there or their grandmother or grandfather that used to work there."

Once Drewrys is established at bars, it will be sold at retail stores.
