A downtown South Bend city plaza is slated for more than a quarter million dollars’ worth of improvements.
The private owners of the former Wells Fargo building at 112 West Jefferson are in the midst of a $6 million building renovation.
To support the project, the city of South Bend will contribute up to $295,000 worth of work to the plaza to the east of the building.
The work will include landscaping, electrical, and concrete work.
The expenditure was approved by the city redevelopment commission. The money will come from the downtown Tax Incremental Financing account.
