ELKHART COUNTY A deadly crash last month is raising new calls for Indiana to join the Central Time Zone.

Dawn Leatherman and Alice Barnes died in a crash at 8:15a.m. on October 25th. They slid on ice while crossing the County Road 5 Bridge over the toll road in Elkhart County.

Notre Dame Professor John Gaski is a committee member of the Indiana Central Time Coalition. He tells The Elkhart Truth the crash could have been avoided if the pair had had an extra hour of sunlight on their side.

However, weather records from that day show that the temperature rose only a few degrees during that hour.
