Benton Harbor, Mich. There is more trouble brewing in Benton Harbor, where a city official is speaking out about his weekend arrest. Benton Harbor Commissioner David Shaw spent last Friday night in the Berrien County Jail for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
It all unfolded at a new bar on Pipestone, where police were responding to a noise complaint. They found Shaw outside, reportedly flailing his arms at his wife. When officers went over to investigate, they say he became hostile toward them.
According to our reporting partners at the Herald Palladium, Shaw addressed the incident during Monday's City Commission Meeting.
He claimed he was, quote "politically profiled," and accused police of using excessive force. Shaw said he was treated like, quote, "a fugitive or a marked man on a manhunt, armed and dangerous."
His arraignment is next week.
