Culver Academy's Black Horse Troop to take part in the Inaugural Parade

When Barack Obama is sworn-in as our country's President for the second time this January, a group from Michiana will be there with him.

Students from Culver Academies are preparing to take part in President Obama's Inaugural Parade on January 21.

59 cadets from Culver Military Academy's Black Horse Troop and 24 members of the Culver Girls Academy Equestriennes will be making the trip to Washington. The event also marks the 1000th Anniversary of the school's first Inaugural Parade appearance.

Culver's Black Horse Troop made their first ride down Pennsylvania Avenue in January of 1913. That year, they served as the Official Escort for Vice President Thomas Marshall, a former Indiana Governor, during Woodrow Wilson's Inaugural Parade.
