Crews continue construction on two Michiana sites

As we slowly move out of the winter season and into spring, we are beginning to see construction start right back up again.

Crews working on the Douglas Realignment Project are continuing the clearing process Wednesday.

That includes tearing down trees and clearing to area for other phases of the project to begin.

According to Notre Dames Chief Spokesman, the next part of the process will be the road construction.

They are hoping that will start no later than the beginning of next week.
That part will involve grading, leveling and moving a lot of dirt and sewage and water systems will also need to be installed around there too.

They plan on having this project completed by August 15th so it is ready for the football season.

“We are doing it to enhance safety for our employees. We have a large number of employees that work on the north side of Douglas who come back and forth both on foot but also in various types of vehicles and so that was a large part of it. Part of it is to provide a little bit more space for the university, for growth 50 and 100 years out which is the way we have to look at things going forward,” says University of Notre Dame Chief Spokesman, Dennis Brown.

But that's not the only construction site around the area.

Crews continue grading and leveling large piles of dirt at Ignition Park, which is right across the street from the South Bend Police Department on Sample.

They are leveling the entire area to make it look more appealing.

F Cubed is believed to be moving to that area in the next three to five years.
