One of golf's biggest names is out for this week's Senior PGA Championship at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor.
1992 Masters Champion Fred Couples was forced to withdraw on Sunday due to back issues that have bothered him throughout his career. Couples missed his tee time and withdrew from Sunday mornig's Regions Tradition major due to his injury.
Meanwhile, the groupings and starting times for the first two rounds (Thursday May 22 and Friday May 23rd) were announced on Sunday.
The marquee group for those rounds is two-time Senior PGA Champion and 2014 United States Ryder Cup Team Captain Tom Watson; Colin Montgomerie of Scotland, making his debut in the Senior PGA Championship; and Germany’s Bernhard Langer, who has two top-5 finishes in the Senior PGA Championship, including a tie for fourth at Harbor Shores in 2012.
Watson/Montgomerie/Langer tee off Thursday at 1:20 p.m. on the 10th Tee, and Friday at 8:10 a.m. on the 1st Tee.
Defending Senior PGA Champion Kohki Idoki of Japan is in a group with 1983 PGA Champion Hal Sutton and 1991 Masters Champion Ian Woosnam.
Meanwhile, Roger Chapman of England, whose inspiring victory at Harbor Shores in 2012 propelled him to a dream summer in Michigan, is part of a group that also features major champions Tom Lehman and Steve Elkington.
