Bremen, Ind. Several competitors went head-to-head in one of the oldest methods of collecting corn on Saturday in Bremen.
Dozens of competitors and spectators came out to the hand-corn husking contest to collect ears of corn.
Participants went into designated corn fields with their horses and wagons to husk corn by hand from the stalk.
Speed, cleanliness and the amount of corn gathered by weight are all factors in winning the competition.
"Some kids or parents may not know where corn comes from,” Clay Geyer, Indiana VP Corn Husking Association. “What's behind them husks? It's a learning experience, but yet it gives people something to do. Get them out of the house for a bit and have some fun."
The state of Indiana will be hosting nationals in 2015.
