Dozens of friends and family gathered to remember one of South Bend's most recent shooting victims at a candlelight vigil Thursday night.
They were there to honor Andre Byrd, 42, who was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head in an alley on Walnut St. last week.
Friends and family came together in prayer near the scene of the crime, at the corner of Walnut and Huron.
They lit candles in Byrd's honor and shared happy memories of the 42-year-old.
But they say they won't be able to heal until they get justice.
“He was a very great guy, a good person. You know and we're so hurt and don't understand the loss,” said the victim’s girlfriend. “If you could just come forward someone let us know or tell us something because he is missed. and I don't understand for a situation like this to happen or someone to do this to him. We just want justice, help.”
