Prom season is right around the corner and Ziker Cleaners and the Junior League of South Bend want to make teenage girls throughout Michiana feel like a princess.

The pair is hosting the tenth annual Princess for a Night Event. The event provides area high school girls the opportunity to obtain new and gently used prom dress for free.

Last year, the event helped more than 500 girls from 50 area high schools.

In order to have another successful event, Ziker’s and members of the Junior League are asking the community for dress donations. Anyone wanting to give a gown can drop it any Ziker Cleaners location in South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger and Elkhart.

This year’s dress drive runs from now until March 20th.

“As in years past, there is a desperate need of contemporary dress in both smaller and larger sizes,” said Jennifer Probst, Director of Retail Sales at Ziker Cleaners. “Our goal is to provide every attendee with a dress and give them the opportunity to have a truly memorable prom night.”

Girls wishing score a free dress will have to wait until March 23rd. The Princess for a Night Event will be held that Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon at the Century Center in downtown South Bend.

Girls are asked to bring their student ID in order to snag a dress. The dress selection is based on a first-come first serve basis.

All attendees are asked to arrive by 11:30 a.m. at the latest, to make sure they have enough time to browse the dresses.
