On Saturday, students from the University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s College, Indiana University South Bend and Ivy Tech are taking part in CommUniversity Day.
Organizers say CommUniversity Day encourages students to engage in service throughout the South Bend community. Last year, more than 750 students participated in 34 different projects, and this planners hope that the number of volunteers who turn out increases.
The day of service includes a Homeward Bound Walk/5K Run which benefits local agencies that fight homelessness, bus tours to the Natatorium and the ND Center for Arts and Culture, as well as an afternoon of activities at the Irish Experience Kids Festival for children in the community.
CommUniversity Day ends on a high note—with a picnic full of food and fun for all participants at 3:00 p.m. at the Robinson Community Learning Center.
