Several area water recreation sites are scheduled to open for the season this weekend. Here is a list:
Kennedy Water Playground (South Bend) – Friday, June 6
East Race Waterway (South Bend) – Saturday, June 7
Mary Gibbard Pool (Mishawaka) – Saturday, June 7
Pierre Moran Pool (Elkhart) – Saturday, June 7
McNaughton Spray Park (Elkhart) – Saturday, June 7
NIBCO Splash Pad (Elkhart) – Saturday, June 7
Merrifield Pool (Mishawaka) – Monday, June 9
Potawatomi Pool (South Bend) – Thursday, June 12
You can check out the Cruise-in and Car Show hosted by Fast Eddie's Kroozin' USA Car Shows; and be sure to dress for the 50's. There will be music, games, trivia, and more, plus you can enter to win prizes and awards. The fun starts at 5 p.m. at Concord Mall.
Better World Books is sponsoring book signings in honor of Goshen's "First Fridays". It’s going on from 6 to 8 p.m. Better World Books is located at 215 South Main Street. These authors will be there: Saloma Miller Furlong, Wallace and Evelyn Shellenberger and Richard Kauffman.
"Walk n' Wander Warsaw: The Art of Seward Johnson" opens Friday and will be open 24/7 through September 28. You can see 16 life size bronze sculptures by the world-renowned American sculptor. You can find a link to the brochure which includes a map on the Big Red Bar.
Free movies in the park start Friday night. Friday night’s feature is "Frozen". Next Friday's movie (June 13) will be "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory". On June 20, you can see Spiderman. The movies will be shown at dusk behind the Wonderland Theater near the playground. Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy the show.
