An Elkhart man who pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography was dealt a 55-year sentence in court on Friday, May 3.
Jeffrey Cripe, 38 of Elkhart was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and 25 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to the felony offense on January 18, 2013.
According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Cripe made downloadable child pornography between the months of January and July 2012. Court documents say the material Cripe made available included sadistic images of minors being sexually abused.
Other messages recovered from his computer indicated he approached several girls online between the ages of 12 and 16 years old, enticing them into performing sexual acts and sharing pornographic images with him.
Cripe was arrested on July 24, 2012 and then formally charge the following month with three counts of distribution of child pornography, two counts of enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity and one count of production and procession of child pornography.
The case came to a close after an investigation by members of the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, including the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the Indiana State Police.
