Car crashes into South Bend home

South Bend, Ind. No one was injured early Saturday morning when a car crashed into a home in South Bend.

It happened around 3:30 Saturday morning in the 1100 block of Broadway Street. A car crashed into a home destroying the front porch of the home.

It makes it dangerous for the residents of the home because that is the only way for them to come and go from the home. Fire fighters are now working to sure up the structure.

“We are now just making sure that it doesn't collapse when the occupants are coming in and out of the house,” says South Bend Battalion Chief David Maenhout. “But there is no porch. The porch is totally gone, totally taken out by the car.”

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and police are searching for him. They do believe that speed was a factor in the crash as they found skid marks on the road.
