The Indiana Statehouse’s magnificent 26-foot-tall Christmas tree came from a local nursery this year.
The tree has been growing at Hensler’s Nursery in Hamlet for the past 26 years. Today, the giant Concolor Fir was chopped down to be sent to the Statehouse.
Wednesday morning the soon-to-be Christmas tree will be placed on a trailer and transported to Indianapolis where it will take its place in the middle of the Statehouse rotunda.
John Hensler, president of Hensler’s nursery says this is one of the highlights of the year, “It's nice to participate with the Indiana Christmas tree growers association to bring a life fresh tree to Indiana's seed of government.”
According to Hensler, once it is set up in the capitol the tree is traditionally decorated by a classroom of children with homemade ornaments.
