Campers staying at Notre Dame being treated for stomach flu

About 100 summer campers staying at the University of Notre Dame are being treated for some type of gastrointestinal illness.

According to the University’s spokesperson, Dennis Brown, all of the campers have been treated on campus or at local hospitals.

No word on what caused the illness but the symptoms are typical of the stomach flu and short-lived.

The University is working with the St. Joseph County Health Department to determine the cause which is suspected to be related to food or a virus.

Some of the campers were visiting for women’s lacrosse, basketball, tennis, hockey, and football.
