KNOX, Ind.-- A Knox salvage business destroyed by fire Thursday night, has reportedly had problems before with its permits.

Investigators continue their probe into the blaze that broke out at C&C Salvage at the corner of Toto Road and U.S. 35

A plume of smoke could be seen, and firefighters spent much of Thursday night fighting the fire.

According to our reporting partners at WKVI, the business was shut down once before in 2012, for not having the proper permits. An investigation also found the company was violating environmental management rules.

The state Fire Marshall is still looking into exactly how Thursday's fire started.
