MISHAWAKA, Ind.--- Police have arrested one of the missing suspects in the murder of John Swoveland Jr. this afternoon.
19-year-old Robert Griffin was arrested shortly after 1 p.m. Friday afternoon at Hickory Village Apartments in Mishawaka.
Police say they were pointed to the apartment complex by an anonymous tip. Through phone contact with the suspect’s family, police were able to peacefully talk Griffin out of the apartment.
“He came out completely willingly and followed commands and surrendered to the officers,” Lt. Dave Wells of St. Joseph County Metro Homicide said in an interview at Hickory Village Apartments.
Griffin is charged with murder in the shooting death of 2-year-old John Swoveland Jr. that occurred last Wednesday.
Local authorities, in conjunction with the United States Marshals Service, are still looking for the last suspect, 23-year-old Xavier Primm.
“They certainly have a lot of resources that we're utilizing so we're hoping to have some information that we can give you in the near future,” said Wells on the search for Primm.
Police have conducted a search in the apartment where Griffin was apprehended.
