Boat burns in drive-way of Michigan families home

St. Joseph, Mich. A family woke up to find their boat on fire in the driveway over the weekend.

The fire broke out late Sunday night in the 2500 block of Morton Street in Saint Joseph, Michigan.

According to our reporting partners at the Herald Palladium, a neighbor woke the family up by pounding on the door. The boat was already engulfed in flames.

While waiting for fire crews, the boat's owner, Tom Paukowits, used a hose to try and keep the flames away from his van and garage. Both sustained minor damages.

The boat was a total loss, but no one was injured. Paukowits says he'd just taken the pleasure boat out for the first time that morning. Foul play was not suspected.
