A local store gives people a new look at "bike season."

Chain Reaction Bicycle Shop in Goshen offers people throughout the community low-cost bikes, repair and parts. Plus, they're offering people a chance to earn an income, who may otherwise have a tough time finding a job.

The non-profit store functions on three platforms: bicycle advocacy, recycling and operating a non-profit bicycle store.

If someone can't afford a bike, they allow people to trade working in the shop for a used set of wheels. Instead of dropping bikes off for repair, people are encouraged to work with trained professionals on maintenence.

The mission statement reads, "Chain Reaction Bicycle Project promotes bicycling in the Goshen community through educational programs and by offering fair wage, bicycle-related work opportunities and increased access to bicycles for people with low income."

Board members say the project hopes to encourage low-cost transportation and a recycling initative in the community.

The Chain Reaction Bike Shop is located at 510 East Washington St. in Goshen. Phone: 574-903-3056. For their webpage, Click here.
