Benton Harbor Schools working to recruit students

The Benton Harbor School System is working to recruit students to its district and avoid a state takeover.

Wednesday night the School Board voted to reorganize some of its lunch staff as it stream lines for the new year. It also discussed plans to host a signing event Thursday as it will go door-to-door to convince students to come back to Benton Harbor schools.

Benton Harbor schools still remains in a financial deficit. At its peak it owed $16 million. It recently closed several schools to re-size the district.
