BENTON HARBOR Benton Harbor's mayor faces a recall this May, and there is some confusion about the language on the ballot.

Former recall elections took place in two phases – one to approve the recall, and another to elect a replacement. New rules passed in 2012 combine the election on one ballot. Residents must vote for the person whom they want in office.

On May 6, voters will be asked to choose current Mayor James Hightower or challenger Marcus Muhammad.

Mayor Hightower tells The Herald Palladium he has received questions about the wording and wants to make sure everyone understands what they are voting for.
