Bangor Middle School and High School are on lock down this morning after a homemade bomb went off.

Officials say the small explosion occurred at around 9:10 a.m. when the explosive device in a soda bottle detonated in one of the lockers in the high school. A second, similar device was later found in a middle school bathroom.

The two schools are connected and on lock down, no students or faculty were evacuated.

According to WOOD-TV, surveillance cameras captured footage of the suspect, who has since been detained by law enforcement. The high school special education student admitted to authorities he constructed and planted the devices on a dare.

It is believed there are no other devices and no imminent danger to any students or faculty. Security officials swept the building during the day and checked every locker for any more explosives.
