Bad Pants Open raises money for diabetics

One in ten have diabetes across the United States.

On Monday, over 75 men and women were sporting their wildest and craziest pants at the twelfth annual Bad Pants Open at the South Bend Country Club.

The money raised by the outing will stay local, and help over 400 people with financial assistance, and go towards diabetes education and resources for diabetics.

Organizers say with that the growing obesity rate in children is adding to the diabetic problem.

A problem that will effect a person’s entire life and add more people who need help.

“She had no one else to turn to so we got her financial assistance right away,” said Lauren Dietz with the Diabetes Resource Center. “And then we put them in long term programs so they could continue to get their medication free through the pharmacy company or other resources so that they are not in the same situation, in trouble month after month.”
