The South Bend Community School Corporation handed out free backpacks full of school supplies Saturday, and it was all thanks to your generous donations to our 16-Pack-a-Backpack Drive.
Saturday South Bend students had the chance to pick up their bags at Jefferson Intermediate Traditional School. Kids stopped by with their parents to pick out their own backpack for the school year.
Each of the bags contained all of the supplies students need to get ready for class, and it's something both parents and kids say really does help.
“They are very excited with it being the first week of school. And I want them to keep that same excitement all the way to the end of the school year. So it helped out very well,” said Barbara Smith whose child got a backpack.
WNDU collected 3,100 backpacks and all sorts of supplies during the drive this year, all donated by you.
