Back to School Block Party held Saturday

It's easy to get lost in life, and so an afternoon Block Party looked to keep children on the right path.

About a hundred folks attended the event in the 1100 block of West Jefferson. The band Soul Funkshun played a free concert with food and games for the kids.

Volunteers also staffed health awareness and neighborhood watch tables, in a neighborhood that's striving for change.

"When Obama got voted in, he said change is going to come, but I need you to help out. I'm not trying to be political, I'm just saying in general, everybody has a responsibility for their next neighbor. So the challenge is, step up," said Andrew Baker a Block Party Volunteer.

There was also a "Meet and Greet my Teacher" event, where kids could see their instructors in a real life setting.
