An armed home invader is in critical condition after being shot by the homeowner early Monday morning in Fulton County.

Police 41-year-old Michael Righter broke into a home in the 300 block of N. Toner Street in Kewanna just after midnight, armed with a gun. The homeowner, 34-year-old Camron Vawter, says he woke up to the sound of Righter breaking his door.

Vawter says he shot Righter to disarm him, then called 911.

A woman who was in the home at the time says she is currently going through a divorce with Righter.

Righter was flown to a South Bend hospital in critical condition.

Criminal charges are expected against Righter.
