Auditions to be held for singing National Anthem during a Silver Hawks game

Forget American Idol, you can have your moment in the spotlight at a South Bend Silver Hawks game, and be the voice of a ballpark tradition.

The team is holding auditions for a chance to sing the National Anthem at a home game during the 2013 season.

The open trials will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Cove. They're looking for singers to fill 70 home game slots. It's free and open to all ages, but those under 18 should bring an adult with them.

You'll be required to sing a live and memorized a cappella version of the Star-Spangled Banner during the audition.
