Attempted rape and sexual assault under investigation

An attempted rape and a sexual assault are both being investigated on Notre Dame’s campus but police say they have no evidence that they’re connected at this time.

One of those alleged events happened in the late hours of Sept. 6 or the early morning of Sept. 7 in a north quad men’s residence hall. The alleged victim reported the incident to a school official on Monday. No further details were released.

The other incident was reported to have occurred in the early morning hours of Sept. 7, also by a man in a north quad men’s residence hall. Notre Dame Security Police is investigating.

Students received alerts of these potential crimes by email. To read them in full, click on the Big Red Bar.

University officials are reminding students that sexual assault can happen to anyone and to always be aware of your safety and that of your friends.
