Attempted murder suspect appears in court

An 18-year-old accused of attempted murder will stand trial in December.

Jacques Allen appeared in court for his initial hearing Thursday, according to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth.

On June 6, 19-year-old Latyris Mitchell told police he'd biked to a convenience store in the two-hundred block of East Indiana Avenue, where he saw Allen standing outside with a small group.

Allen allegedly pointed a handgun at Mitchell, and pulled the trigger. He was shot three times.

The victim's story matches up with bystanders' accounts of the incident.

Allen's bond has been set at $200,000. A pre-trial conference is set for August 20 and his trial is set for December 9.
