The United Way is helping clients of I&M and NIPSCO receive free energy audits this winter until March.
Special advisers will conduct home energy audits, going directly to houses and analyzing their energy inefficiencies. The audits are part of the Energizing Indiana efforts to assist homeowners in saving money in the long term by raising home energy performance, lowering energy bills and improving air quality.
The energy “auditors” will install low-cost energy saving measures, including up to nine compact fluorescent light bulbs, up to three low-flow faucet aerators, and up to two low-flow shower heads per home.
To contact United Way clients can visit the Energizing Indiana website and schedule free energy assessments. United Way of St. Joseph County will receive $25 for every energy audit performed on its behalf.
