Michigan Senator John Proos is urging Congress to shut down the lock system between Chicago and Lake Michigan.

The outrage comes in response to a Canadian report that warns the electric fence system isn't working properly to keep asian carp out of the great lakes.

Asian carp breed quickly, have no natural predators and can consume as much as 20 percent of their body weight in a day. They monopolize food sources and wipe out native species.

The report predicts that if Asian carp get into Lake Michigan, they would spread to Lake Huron within five years.
