Amelia Rose Earhart, along with her co-pilot completed their historic 24-thousand mile flight, in early July, making her the youngest woman to fly around the globe in a single-engine plane.

The plane was donated, as was much of her equipment, funded through corporate sponsors like First Source Bank, Amelia's tie to Michiana.

Amelia's father's last name is Earhart, and he named her Amelia as a tribute to the American icon. The family recently discovered there are no ties to the original Amelia Earhart family, though both families lived in adjacent Pennsylvania counties.
