Warsaw, Ind. One of the largest air shows in Indiana starts this Friday, right here in Michiana. The air show of Warsaw is a two-day event and it’s expected to be bigger than last year
During the show you will see at least six military planes, four jets and a Candy Bomber. The Candy Bomber does exactly what it sounds like; it drops candy to the kids. Coordinators say it’s an act taken straight out of history.
“The C-54 Candy Bomber was a Berlin airlift cargo plane that was keeping Berlin alive after the Second World War, hauling supplies in, and they started dropping out candy to the kids down below because they just got through the war and didn't have much. So, the guys started gathering up their money and buying hard candy and the next thing you know, they are throwing Hershey bars out with parachutes,” explains show organizer Jim Holbrook”.
These Hershey bars, like the ones dropped in Berlin, will have parachutes as well. Plus, they won’t be dropped directly on the crowd so you won’t have to take cover.
In addition to the planes, there will be food, live music and a beer garden for those old enough to drink. If you plan on going to the show make sure your show up early.
