Senior citizens that qualify for affordable housing will be moving in this weekend to Heritage Place at LaSalle Square.
There are more than 72 apartments and it's almost fully leased.
It's an independent living facility and the rooms are fit for a senior’s every need with wheelchair accessible doorways and pull cords for emergencies.
The new housing is welcome to the area, which has been struggling to bring more housing and retail to the area.
“We've been talking about this for four years,” says Lance Swank, President of the Sterling Group. “It took a coalition to make it happen, including the city council, economic development, steering committee, and our partner, Memorial hospital.”
The official ribbon cutting will be held sometime in October when all of the apartments are finished.
