AM General has told about 350 workers it laid off on Jan. 1 that they could be out of work at least through June 30.

The South Bend Tribune reports the company issued a Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification, or WARN notice to workers at military assembly plant on Friday. AM General spokesman Jeff Adams says orders in the thousands from several foreign countries are on the horizon, but it's taking longer than expected.

When the workers were laid off, the company said they were expected to last until March. AM General employs 1,000 people, about 500 of them in the South Bend area.
