The 4th Annual Marine Mud Run will take place Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the Armed Forces Reserve Center in South Bend.

The 5K race begins at 9am and will raise money for the Toys for Tots charity fund. It is not, however, a traditional race because of course obstacles, including trenches and crawling. Moreover, the presence of mud makes this 5K run even more challenging.

"Even if you are a hardcore runner, you are going to get tired ... You'll be going up and down hills plus the resistance of running and all the weight you have now acquired. You’re going to be worn out," said LCpl. Tim Harrigan.

While most of the track is dry, it will be knee high in water come Saturday.

If you are interested in getting down and dirty for Toys for Tots call 574-233-0253. You can also sign up the morning of the event starting at 7am.
