Some local artists are brightening the streets of downtown South Bend.
Friday was the 6th annual festival of banners and this year's theme was pop art.
Artists are as young as eight and compete in categories based on age.
Mayor Pete Buttigieg was there to unveil the first flag and to his surprise, it was a pop art version of himself.
"I'd like to believe there's something hip about the pop art banners that are going to go through downtown,“ he said. “It sends the right message people want to live in a place that's creative, a little bit different than every other place they have been to."
