There is a new way to make sure your teenagers stay sober and drug free.

Parents in Elkhart County are able to get complimentary home alcohol saliva and drug tests, to test their children.

People can pick up the tests at police departments and addiction recovery centers in Elkhart and Goshen.

Officials hope this will push parents to talk to their kids about drugs and alcohol.

"I think it also opens up an opportunity for parents to talk to their kids about how they feel and how their family deals with drugs and alcohol,” said Jessica Koscher, Elkhart Co. Drug Free Partnership, “And that it is illegal, we want to keep you safe, we want to make sure other people on the roads are safe also.”

The tests are possible thanks to a drug free community fund grant.
