A Michiana restaurant owner hopes congress can end his long struggle to stay in the US.

Ibrahim Parlak has been fighting deportation for the past couple of years after the government challenged his application for asylum.

Today, Senator Carl Levin and Representative Fred Upton both entered bills in their chambers to give permanent US residency to the Berrien County businessman.

The Department of Homeland Security wants to send Parlak back to turkey because they say he lied on his application back in 1991.

Senator Levin says, "Mister Parlak is a good citizen and should be allowed to remain in the United States and continue the honorable life that he has built for his community."

Congressman Upton added, "He should be given the chance to remain in his community and raise his daughter, without any fear of arrest or deportation.”
