A 27-year-old man drowned this 4th of July in Lake Maxinkuckee.

Jose Cruz Lizcano disappeared while swimming at the Culver Public Beach, and his friends didn't notice until four hours later.

Indiana Conservation divers went out in the water to help with the search. They used sonar technology and found the body within 30 minutes.

Charles Doepping, of Plymouth, was at the beach with his daughters when the man's body was found about 15 feet off shore.

“Divers go in the water, and they start scouring, and they said someone's been missing. They went back and forth through the beach and then they found the gentleman, “ Doepping says. “We saw them carry him out covered. They didn't do any CPR. They just put sheets over him and took him right to the ambulance.”

An autopsy will be performed in the next few days.
